A pre-bonsai is a small tree with specific features, that with a little work and some care can become a beautiful bonsai. The pre-bonsais are grown from seedlings to get a good nebari, which is the base of the trunk, fine roots near the trunk, and several design possibilities. This pre-bonsai line will allow you to model and design the bonsai in the style you want or that the tree indicates.

Location: It accepts all kinds of climates but prefers a sunny situation during the whole year. In summer it’s recommended to protect against strong sun of noon and even though it resists frosts well, it’s better to protect against temperatures below –2ºC.

Watering: Abundant in summer and in moderation in winter. Take care not to wet the flowers.

Curiosities: It’s flower, his very fragrant during twilight, therefore the insects responsible for its pollination, are active in this moment of the day, which is a good example of symbiosis.

Fertilisation

From spring to autumn with the organo-mineral fertiliser Hiryo Gold or the fast acting fertiliser Nutribonsai. Do not fertilise during flowering, fertilise once there is fruit.

Transplant

Every 2 years, at the last days of winter or early spring. After that, it is recommended to water with Mistral Bonsai's Vitabonsai invigorator to help the tree's recovery.

Soil

Terrabonsai. Special soil for bonsai. It will satisfy the water and nutrient needs, enhancing the root development and general vigour. Other substrates can also be used, like a mixture of 60% Kiryuzuna + 40% Akadama, that promotes the growth, although it will require more frequent watering.

Pinching

. When the shoot has reached 4 to 6 pairs of leaves cut off leaving 1 or 2 of them.

Wiring

. It can be done all year round, but take care in spring, when growth is faster, as it can leave a mark on the bark.
