Curiosities

It’s a very long-lived tree which can reach even 500 years. Its wood is very hard and compact, of yellow colour and very appreciated for the production of flutes, pipes, spoons and hafts of tools. It has been exploited therefore it is difficult to find such a big tree. But you can find a tree of about 6m in natural conditions in some protected places like the National Park of Ordesa (Huesca).
