Kanuma Small Grain Substrate 2 l. (2-8 mm). The classic Japanese grained soil in which azaleas and trees that live on acid soils are cultivated. Due to its semi-hard granulated structure this substrate allows the perfect aeration of the roots, which favors its development in the small pots in which we grow the bonsais. This soil is acid and almost sterile so we will have to fertilise it well so that our bonsai grow vigorously. The Kanuma, for its acidity, is also used when the water with which we irrigate is very calcareous. In these cases, a part of Kanuma is usually mixed with the substrate. Because of the size of the grains this substrate is used for small size bonsais.
