Malus sp. Bonsai 9 years. Crab Apple or Apple tree. Outdoor bonsai, typical from the Mediterranean. Very appreciated for its fruits, the apples, and their flowers in spring. It needs both sun and cold to produce fruit.

Location: Apple trees can be helped to fruit by pollinating them manually by applying pollen from a flower to the stigma.

Watering: Abundant in summer, moderate in winter. Take care not to wet the flowers. Avoid waterlogging.

Curiosities: It can adapt to all climates but prefers a sunny location all year round. In summer, it should be protected from the extreme midday sun. It resists frost, but it is better to protect it from temperatures below -2ºC.
