Crataegus sp. Prebonsai 14 years. Hawthorn. Mediterranean deciduous prebonsai, natural from temperate areas of Europe and Asia. This tree is very appreciated by prebonsai growers because of its small leaves of an intense green colour on the upper side and lighter on the underside. From their white flowers grow red fruits, which are very appreciated when ripe. It allows a fine branching.

Location: We can place the Crataegus in direct sunlight, as well as in semi-shade. They withstand low temperatures and winds, but it is recommended to protect them from frost.

Watering: Hawthorns require a lot of water, especially in the growing season (spring-summer). It prefers a wet soil. If it suffers from a lack of water, their leaves will turn brown. Should be better to avoid water with a lot of lime in it.

Curiosities: Crataegus are slow-growing trees, that can live up to 500 years. They grow a very beautiful bark over the years.
