A prebonsai is a small tree with specific features, that with a little work and some care can become a beautiful bonsai. The prebonsai are grown from seedlings to get a good nebari, which is the base of the trunk, fine roots near the trunk, and several design possibilities. This prebonsai line will allow you to model and design the bonsai in the style you want or that the tree indicates.

Chaenomeles superba. Prebonsai 8 years. Japanese flowering quince. Due to their characteristics these are outdoor trees, ideal for balconies, gardens and terraces. Very ramified deciduous shrub. It forms tiny flowers of intense colour, among the earliest to appear in spring, with a high range of colours and contrasts at the different times of the year. Its fruit ripens in autumn, it is fleshy and reminds of the quince fruits.

Location: It prefers outdoor areas, in full sun throughout the year, thus we favor an abundant flowering. We recommend to protect your prebonsai in winter from the intense cold and from strong frosts.

Watering: To water thoroughly, only when the surface of the soil is dry, until water abundantly comes out of the drainage holes. Avoid permanent waterlogging of the soil to avoid excess moisture that will rot the roots.

Curiosities: The name chaenomeles would come from the Greek "chaïnen", to split, and "mingle", the apple, to designate these shrubs which the fruit was said to open when ripe; which, most often, doesn’t happen in reality. The chaenomeles were the subject of many crosses from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century, in particular between the Chaenomeles japonica and other Asian species, creating confusion under the common name of "quince of Japan"; But these are always trees characterized by great resistance, fruiting and above all flowering.
