The so-called indoor trees are mostly trees from tropical origins, that do not support low temperatures. We must place them indoors, always close to a source of natural light.

Characteristics

Evergreen bush or tropical tree. Very appreciated for its orange bark and its odour like a jasmine during flowering.


Location

In a Mediterranean climate in summer in the exterior. Protect against cold in winter. In colder zones, inside a greenhouse during the whole year.


Watering

Abundant in summer and moderate in winter.


Fertilization

From spring to autumn.

Re-potting

Every 2 or 3 years, at the end of spring.

Substrate

100% Akadama, or a mixture of Akadama with 20% of volcanic earth.


Pruning and pinching

Pruning

To be done during whole period of growth.

Pinching

Pinch when the branch has developed about 4 pairs of leaves, cutting the leaves and leaving two pairs at the branches

Wiring

The whole year.


Curiosities

In its countries of origin it is used to make hedges because of its rapid growth after pruning.
